Many Muslim websites while explaining Jihad write that it is a struggle in the cause of Allah. Some websites might go the extra yard and say that Jihad means striving in the cause of Allah which means making Islam (Allah’s word) superior over all other religions in the world or to establish Islam or to rule the world by Sharia (or to impose Sharia Law). And they even assure that Non-Muslims do not have to fear this Islamic rule because Islam is never forced on them and they can retain their faith as Koran tells there is no compulsion in religion. Unfortunately, Non-Muslims do not understand this properly and consider this as secularism and tolerance. What they do not know is that under Islamic rule and Islamic theology all Hindus (or Non-Muslims) are considered worse than animals and treated like second class citizens in their own land as they have to live by humiliating conditions – political, religious, social and economic.
Below are those conditions, apart from paying Jizya, imposed on dhimmis (Non-Muslim subjects of Islamic state or living under Islamic rule), and that are enshrined in Sharia Law (Islamic sacred law). Even today, all Muslim states impose some of these on Non-Muslims, though the nature of those conditions can vary from one state to another.
The regulations with respect to dhimmis are as follows:
1. Under Sharia any Muslim who converts to other religion is subject to the death penalty.
2. Conversions between non-Islamic faiths are forbidden: if any one changes his religion, it must be to Islam.
3. It is forbidden to try to convert a Muslim from their faith.
4. All other faiths are strictly prohibited from proselytizing and propagating their faith.
5. It forbidden to hinder a fellow dhimmi from converting to Islam.
6. Any one who converted to Islam gained preferential inheritance rights within their family – they could become the inheritor family’s property – and a spouse who converted would gain sole guardianship of any children.
7. A Muslim man may marry a Non-Muslim woman, but their home is a Muslim household, and their children become Muslims under law.
8. It is forbidden for a Non-Muslim man to marry or to have any kind of relation with a Muslim woman.
9. No temples or churches can be built under Islamic law.
10. Any damaged temples (or churches) can not be repaired.
11. Dhimmis (Non-Muslims living under Sharia law or Islamic rule) are forbidden from any public display of their religion: idols, crosses, processions or celebration of any kind of Non-Islamic festival.
12. It was forbidden , on pain of death, for a Dhimmi to raise a hand against a Muslim under any circumstances.
13. Dhimmis are forbidden from cursing Muslims, on pain of death.
14. Testimony of Dhimmis is not valid against a Muslim or not allowed in Islamic courts. If a Muslim accused a Hindu of a capital offense, such as trying to convert a Muslim, the Hindu’s testimony was not valid in their defense. This is because Non-Muslims are by default are corrupt, criminals and sub humans.
15. Dhimmis are forbidden from striking a Muslims. for whatever reason i.e. even if it means self-defense.
16. The blood of a Muslim is not equal to the blood of a dhimmi. So, for example, although murder of a Muslim is punished by death, Sharia law says no Muslim could be put to death for killing a Non-Muslim.
17. If a Dhimmi kills another Dhimmi, and then converts to Islam, he can escape punishment: anyone who converts to Islam is let off from a potential death sentence.
18. Dhimmis had to house and feed Muslim soldiers whenever told to do so.
19. Dhimmis are forbidden from assisting, forming an alliance with, or receiving protection from the enemies of Muslims.
20. Dhimmis are forbidden from trying to leave territory under Islamic control.
21. Dhimmis are forbidden fromteaching their children the Koran or teaching them about Islam.
22. Dhimmis are forbidden from criticizing Mohammad, Islam or the dhimma pact itself.
23. Dhimmis were not to hold public office or to exercize authority over Muslims.
24. A Dhimmi could not act as guardian for a Muslim. Thus if a Hindu childor as yet unmarried woman converts to Islam, the parents lose all rights of oversight for them.
25. A dhimmi can not own a Muslim slave or buy slaves from Muslims.
26. Dhimmi houses had to be smaller and lower than Muslim houses.
27. A Dhimmi had to vacate his seat for a Muslim.
28. A Dhimmi had to get out of the way of Muslims in the street, moving to the more cramped side of the way.
29. Dhimmis were not allowed to ride horses or camels because it would raise them in status above Muslims.
30. Dhimmis had to ride their donkeys side-saddle, with both legs on one side of animals.
31. dhimmis had to adopt a humble demeanor in public.
32. A wide range of restrictions are to be imposed on the appearance – clothing, footwear and hairstyles – of Dhimmis, to ensure that they did not look like Muslims e.g. Non-Muslims (or Hindus) are required to wear a wide cloth belt (Zunnar) armed band and cut their hair on the forehead.
