The reign of Firoz Shah Tughlaq – I

He was the third of Tughlaq dynasty, ruled for 38 years ( 1351 – 88 AD ) and his reign was the longest of the Delhi Sultanate.

All Muslim chronicles of that period refer to him as the  most kindest, generous, religious and justice oriented Sultan among all the Sultans of Delhi. Elliot, the British historian who supervised over translations of many Persian chronicles  giving accounts of India during Muslim rule, has high praise for Firoz Shah and calls him as Akbar of his times ( Delhi Sultanate ).

He was neither a barbarian nor uncivilized and was a very illustrious King. Sure, he was a very devout Muslim, even though he took wine, and that outlook based on Islam towards his Hindu subjects, which is no diff. from rulings of Sharia, was the force behind his actions.

The story behind his birth gives insight in to the affairs of those days. His father, Sipah salar Rajjab was a  brother of Ghiyasuddeen Tughlaq, the founder of Tughlaq dynasty. At the time of his birth, Ghiyasuddeen was a noble in the court of Alauddin Khilji and assigned to Dipalpur ( in present day Pakistan’s Punjab ) as fief-holder ( iqtadar ). Wanting to amass wealth, he wanted his brother obtain a daughter of one of Hindu kings there in marriage.Having found a daughter of a small Hindu king, Ranamall Bhatti, he sends a proposal which was rejected by Ranamall. On this rejection, Ghiyasuddeen brings his army to villages belonging to Ranamall and starts harassing villagers by demanding full payment of one year’s revenue and helpless Ranamall agrees to the marriage proposal. After the marriage, her name ‘ Bibi Naila ‘ was changed to ‘ Sultan Bibi Kadbanu ‘. She gave birth to Firoz Shah in the year 1309 AD. Israel-Palestine conflict : What Indian media will not tell Hindus to keep them secular !

This present conflict gave an excellent opportunity for many Hindus to show their secular credentials by condemning Israel. In their views, as told by Indian media, Israel is the aggressor and killing innocent Muslim women and children. Many protests against perceived aggression by Israel were organized by leftists and Muslim Bollywood people. From ‘ever victim Muslim’ SRK to ‘neo-Muslim’ Mahesh Bhatt, we saw tweets.

Knowing NDTV and its “secular” credentials, I kept my comment on this news item to the minimum with a simple statement as this, ‘How much readers (Indians) know about Hamas ? How many people have read its covenant ( its charter )? Please try to know these before commenting here and blaming Israel.‘ Even this comment could not be passed by moderators at NDTV.

I know NDTV and its perversion of  journalistic ethics when it comes to reporting about Muslim terrorism. Four years back, its silence on Deganga communal riots taught  me about true state of Indian media esp. English one.

Coming to Israel-Palestine conflict, our media coverage was one sided, but not surprising. Considering that media can not tell anything negative about Islam and Muslims, it was left to bloggers like me to unravel the truth by presenting Islamic antisemitism and the truth about Hamas – a terrorist organization on social platforms.  Continue reading →

Indian Sufism peaceful !! Amir Khusru – the great SUFI poet

Indian Express’s headline reads, ‘Two exhibitions on Amir Khusrau celebrate the pluralist philosopher‘. Pluralist philosopher !! There are numerous web sites too dedicated to Amir Khusru, describing him as pluralist and as a Sufi saint. Aparna Chatterjee, another expert on Indian culture and music, describes him as a saint, spiritualist, poet, composer and a historian and that the world view of Amir Khusru is of ‘SECULARISM’. But a major Indian news paper describing Amir Khusru as pluralistic is indicative of the kind of propaganda (or by concealing and distorting history of Islamic rule in India) that Indian Hindus were subjected to by alliance of leftist-inspired and Nehruvian historians. But it is Bollywood which should be credited with creating and taking the myth that Sufism was peaceful to ordinary people. To say that Sufism in India is peaceful and non-violent is insulting to Indian culture and humanity when its (Sufism’s) history is shrouded with blood, violence and unlimited hatred and intolerance towards Hindus and others. Indian Express: The rise of global Islamism

But for the word ‘Islamism’, this is well written article acknowledging a phenomenon of Muslims aspiring or working to bring the world under Islamic hegemony i.e. sharia law.

It may be for the first time that an entity in Indian main stream media acknowledges that Muslims are striving to make  India an Islamic state.

The usage of  the word “Islamism’ is misleading to describe this phenomenon as it creates a distinction between Islam and Islamism by creating an impression that ‘Islamism’ has no basis in Islamic theology and is in violation of true spirit of Islam. Yes; just like the words (or phrases) militant Islam, radical Islam or moderate Islam, the word ‘Islamism’ too is a creation of West, multiculturalists, secularists and journalists in media who live in the delusion of existence of a version of Islam, TRUE ISLAM, which condemns ‘Islamism’.

The rise of global Islamism by Tufail Ahmad

Islamism is a cultural and political movement aimed at eradicating secular and democratic ethos of a society in a bid to pave the way for Islamic ascendancy. It introduces exhibitionist religiosity in people’s lives: there is no issue if a woman wears a burqa, but the problem is a body of religious and political ideas that makes her choose such a dress code. Subsequently, these ideas begin to strike at the roots of individual liberty, women’s freedom, rights of non-Muslims and a free press. The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language defines Islamism as an “Islamic revivalist movement, often characterised by moral conservatism, literalism, and the attempt to implement Islamic values in all spheres of life”. It is pertinent here to look at recent examples of how Islamism unfolds in everyday life.

In 2010, Islamists in Kerala chopped off the hand of college lecturer T J Joseph for setting a question paper which they deemed as disrespecting Prophet Muhammad. In 2011, Islamists led by Syed Ahmed Bukhari forced an exhibition on the “Koran in 53 languages”, organised by Ahmadiyya Jamaat in Delhi, to be shut. Not long ago, actor-producer Kamal Hassan was compelled by Islamists in Tamil Nadu to edit his movie Vishwaroopam for showing that jihadists recited Koranic verses before launching attacks. In May, tens of thousands of Bangladeshis led by Islamist group Hefajat-e-Islam marched through Dhaka, demanding stricter blasphemy laws. Pakistani media is full of reports of Hindu girls being converted to Islam forcibly, Christians being accused of blasphemy, homes and mosques of Ahmadi Muslims being vandalised, Shias being declared infidels and murdered.

In Egypt, Islamists are targeting Christians through lawsuits, accusing them of blaspheming Islam, and liberal Muslims are quitting government jobs. In Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, Islamists killed a man for selling alcohol recently. In Tunisia, Islamists desecrated Jewish cemeteries, and attacked art galleries and cinemas. In Turkey, Islamists stabbed couples who kissed in an Ankara metro station recently to protest against moral policing by Turkish authorities. To make a point, Turkey is building a $100-million mega mosque in America. Jordan is witnessing public demonstrations by Islamists. In a British prison, an Islamist inmate recruited two others to beat up guards in May. In all these cases, there is a single binding factor: Islam. The jihadists of Al-Qaeda variety and Islamists share the same ideological objectives, with the only distinction being that the former are armed and consider themselves fighting on a battlefield against infidels. Their goal is: establishing Sharia rule. Islamism is a softer face of jihadists, sometimes masquerading as liberal Islam in our midst.

Driven by an ideological longing to revive the glory of Islamic caliphate, Islamists are open to using Western tools of election, constitution and the rule of law in introducing Islam in a country’s politics, governance, literature, culture and architecture. Their tactic is to win an election, re-write a country’s constitution to make it compliant with Islam and begin Islamising. Inspired by the success of Islamists in the Arab Spring, even the Taliban are open to using referendums and elections as a tactic.

Last March, Mullah Agha Jan Mutasim, an aide to Mullah Omar, indicated that the Taliban might form a party, noting: “We must launch a political movement to achieve the goals for which we have made so many sacrifices.” Tempted by the rise of Egyptian Islamists, Barelvi scholar Tahirul Qadri returned to Pakistan last December from his self-exile in Canada to engineer a Cairo-like mass uprising in Islamabad, unsuccessfully though, to grab power. “Far from rendering Islamism unnecessary,” writes US academic John M Owen IV, “the Arab Spring has increased its credibility.”

In the past, Islamists have tried to revive the glory of Islam in the political sphere. Such efforts were dubbed as revivalism, fundamentalism, political Islam, extremist Islam, radical Islam and likewise. In the modern democratic era, Islamism is emerging as a distinct attempt to comprehend the meanings of power in all its industrial, corporate and military complexities, as signified by the West.

On the danger of Islamism in post-9/11 years, noted Islamic affairs expert Francis Robinson warns: “[Islamists] understood the issue of power, but in engaging with the West they were deemed to be willing to sacrifice too much that was essential to Islam and Muslim culture. Islamists saw the real danger as Western civilisation itself. Their real enemies were the secular or modernist elites in Muslim societies who collaborated with Western political, economic and cultural forces.”

Commenting on the phenomenon of Islamism, Mehdi Mozaffari of the University Aarhus observes: “Prior to the Islamist revolution in Iran in 1978–79, the terms ‘Islamism’ and ‘Islamists’ are… practically absent from the vocabulary of newspaper reporters.” Now, Islamism is becoming vigorous. For the Islamist parties that rose to power amid the Arab Spring, a policy prototype was readily available from Iran in policies implemented after the 1979 Islamic Revolution, from Turkey where the Islamist Justice and Development Party won 2002 elections and is removing liberal influences from public life, and from Gaza where Hamas captured power through elections to impose Sharia.

In its new avatar, Islamism is also a legal attempt to redefine the relationship between Islam and the state, and between the state and citizens. In 2011, former Islamist Maajid Nawaz observed: “Islamism is the idea that seeks to implement one interpretation of Islam over the rest of society by law. Some Islamists seek to do this through politicking and others through violence.”

In the wake of Arab Spring, Cairo-based journalist Heba Saleh wrote that Islamism does not represent a “broad range of opinion” of people to evolve consensus on government policy-making. In the conception of Islamists, non-Muslim citizens are not permitted to govern or head an Islamic state. Kevin B Anderson, an expert on the Iranian Revolution, sums up: Islamism has “many features and faces, everywhere it is anti-feminist, everywhere it is authoritarian, and everywhere it is intolerant of other religions.”

Islam’s War of Annihilation Against Hindus

Courtesy: frontpagemag.com

A thought-provoking essay written by Narain Kataria, president of the Indian American Intellectuals Forum, sounds a familiar alarm. “Hinduism Faces Eclipse” reveals that “the anti-Hindu forces within and without India are working in tandem on an insidious mission to destroy our civilization and culture, and obliterate Hinduism from the Indian soil.” Kataria further contends that Indians are not facing terrorism, but worldwide jihad, which he calls a “fully globalized franchise…working overtime to destroy all non-Muslim nations.”

Muslims currently comprise 20 percent of India’s 1.2 billion population, the rest of which is overwhelmingly Hindu. But as Narain points out, Indian Muslims have engaged in a series of attacks on Hindu citizens, temples, religious festivals and unarmed pilgrims. He reminds us that a month after the 9/11 attacks in the United States, a proclamation was issued on Al Jazeera television promising that “Hindu India” would also be targeted for jihad. Two months after that, a suicide squad assaulted India’s Parliament House in New Delhi on December 13, 2001, killing 9 and wounding 18. Continue reading →

PFI (Popular Front of India), Islamic terrorism in India and Love Jihad

The proper course of action should be banning Popular Front of India (PFI) – an Islamic outfit, but  any one thinking Congress (I) (or UPA) would be banning PFI can only be called a  naive.

It is the same party which invented and fostered the concept of Saffron Terrorism just to make Hindus stop questioning its policies in dealing with Islamic terrorism as dealing with Islamic terrorism will not fetch any Muslim votes.

New Indian Express reports:

Decision to slap UAPA on PFI activists right: Thiruvanchoor  ( 1 )

Kerala home minister says slapping UAPA ( Unlawful Activities Prevention Act ) on PFI is justified !

For what reasons ? Read the below reports.

21 arrested in Kannur; bombs, swords seized and 20 activists of PFI arrested

A raid on an unoccupied building in Mayyil area used by alleged activists of the Popular Front of India for secret armed training led to the recovery of two country-made bombs, some swords and a bunch of propaganda material. Over 20 persons have been arrested, police said……

If the above report is about the first raid then then there is another raid by Kerala police on PFI hideouts which is not reported by secular main stream media.

Police raid in Kannur: Deadly explosives seized

There has been yet another raid in Kannur, this time in the residence of Mariyaamvalappil Ibrahim. Police have seized deadly explosives during the course of the raid.  In the raid conducted in Peruvangoor, Kannur, police have seized explosives including 250 detonators, fuse wires etc. Further details are awaited.

The New Indian Express sums it up, esp. the below report deserves a complete reading:

Post-Narath: IM (Indian Mujahideen – a banned outfit) links, foreign funding emerge    {{PFI has links with Indian Mujahideen….}}

Kerala Police unmasks PFI’s terror face

It took the police some time to catch up with the activities of the Popular Front of India (PFI), which projects itself as a socially committed organisation and a saviour of minorities, Dalits and the marginalised. But, with a series of raids on PFI centres across North Kerala yielding lethal weapons and foreign currency, the Kerala Police have now been able to expose the real face of terror of the religious outfit bolstering the apprehension that Islamic fundamentalists are waiting to spring a surprise in the state.

On April 23, Kannur police stormed into the office of Thanal Charitable Trust, an alleged arm of PFI, in Narath and caught 21 PFI activists—all aged between 22 and 31 years—red handed along with human shooting targets, bombs, bomb making materials, gun powder, eight swords, foreign currency notes, Iranian entry card in the name of Sadik Mangalodan to Kish Island free zone and leaflets of PFI and its political outfit SDPI (Social Democratic Party of India).

In another raid on April 25, police recovered a cache of weapons including swords and iron rods from the house of a PFI activist Khamarudden in Narath…..

If all the above reports point to Popular Front of India being a terrorist organization, we need to ask what is the aim of PFI ? Because terrorism is not the end but means to achieving political or religious goals. From (1 ) we also read:

In this case, there are strong evidences of suspicious foreign fund flow, links with terrorist outfits, human shooting targets, community-wise statistics of people, literature showing the necessity of increasing the population of Muslims etc.

Necessity of increasing the population of Muslims ? It is euphemism for making India an Islamic republic i.e. to bring India under Sharia rule or Islamic rule under which all Non-Muslims will be treated as worse than animals.

As Koran says, bringing the whole world under Islamic rule (Sharia law) is on the mind of every Muslim. Re-establishing Islamic rule in India is the wish (or desire ) and aim of every Indian Muslim.

This report might not have specifically mentioned Love Jihad as a weapon for increasing Muslim population but it is clearly an employed strategy and obvious from the reports in the year 2010. Former CM of Kerala Achutanandan said what PFI is up to and Love Jihad as one of the means.

From the year 2010,    Islamic fundamentalists rears its head in Kerala

It was as savage an attack on political correctness as could be. What was surprising was that it came from a communist and a chief minister, no less. At a recent press conference in Delhi, Kerala Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan said: “They want to turn Kerala into a Muslim-majority state in 20 years. They are using money and other inducements to convert people to Islam. They even marry women from outside their community in order to increase the Muslim population.”

Even when Achutanandan said that he was basing his comments on pamphlets seized by police from PFI offices, the media and Congress (I),opposition party in 2010, attacked him and accused him of insulting the entire Muslim community. When the media reported this, it was not about PFI and its subversive activities but condemning the CM for his honest observations. India today blatantly calls the remarks of Achutanandan an attack on political correctness. It means we are not supposed to talk about Islamic terrorism, its objectives and its means.

Like I observed in the beginning, Congress (I) will not ban this PFI. Why ? Afraid of losing Muslim votes ! Afraid that Muslims see it as an attack on Islam and them ! But the same Muslims when asked about activities of PFI will disown and disavow it, atleast for the public face. Because, if Muslims really disavow PFI Congress (I) will surely ban it. Muslims never admit to Islamic terrorism, instead they always claim victim status. In their view it is either Islamophobia or Saffron Terrorism !

One can just look at what PFI is saying even after its members caught red handed, from (1):

“…. This is a clear sign of a police bias against Muslim youths. A section of the police is working not only to harass but also to cook evidences against the organisation,” alleged O M A Salam, general secretary, PFI.”

It has to be when Koran preaches to Muslims that mere presence of disbelief in Islam is an act of aggression on Islam and Muslims and the only God Allah !

Not much of the main stream media has reported and written about this news this time, probably fearing that it shows them in bad light considering how they condemned and ridiculed Former CM of Kerala Achutanandan last time it reported about PFI in the year 2010. And the same media will be eagerly and shamelessly publishing what Congress (I) leaders say about so called, and ‘mythical’, Saffron Terrorism like sermons.

Sharia and Dhimmitude in a Tamil village; Hindus under siege, and Muslims ask for protection !

One of the humiliating conditions enforced on Non-Muslims living under Islamic state is that Non-Muslims do not display their religious symbols publicly and Non-Muslims do not celebrate their festivals in public. These conditions are not just some Islamic laws but also are part of Islamic beliefs which inform and influence the culture and behavior of Muslims.

It should be noted that laws already exist in many Indian cities that prohibit Hindus from taking processions in to Muslim dominated areas without the reciprocity of prohibiting Muslims similarly from taking processions in to Hindu dominated areas or prohibiting Muslims from displaying those green flags and other symbols all over the cities including  in the places where there is no significant Muslim population.

And this below incident also highlights that as demographics change how behavior of Muslims changes and how they start to persecute Hindus; hopelessly, the history is repeating itself.

Hyderabad blasts ! Secular Congress does not know if it is terror attack, and English media wonders

And media also wishes Congress (I) shows courage to hint at ‘mythical’ Hindu terrorism behind these blasts. In India, when media can conceal violence of a massive scale committed by Muslims, as Muslims in West Bengal destroyed 300 Houses belonging to Hindus – besides other crimes – while police and the state Govt. became mere spectators, it will not be surprising if no truth ever comes out of investigations on these blasts.

And if it turns out that Muslims are behind this attack, media will concoct enough reasons, albeit in the name of explaining and understanding or in the name of some social justice, which end up like justifying terrorism, concealing the real reason of Islamic terrorism  i.e. Islam itself and its teachings and Muslims dutifully following their terrorist ideology. Indian secular media is silent about ‘secular’ violence by Muslims

Indian media is all about influencing opinions, not about reporting facts. It is not the first time we saw this kind of self censoring Muslim mob violence (Islamic Jihad), not this will be the last.

The question is never about whether or not Viswaroopam insults Islam !

When I was looking at responses of critics or self-styled custodians of secularism or intellectuals to this theater of absurd I came across this:  ‘Does Vishwaroopam really insult Islam?‘  It wasn’t bad considering that atleast the author of this piece questioned integrity of those Muslims threatening with violence. But he does a strange thing: He literally tells what Islam should be rather than what it is and how Muslims understand Koran, and all this by making infelicitous assumptions.

To start with, the problem is how does any one so definitively defines what is ‘insult’ ! It is highly subjective. If one brings this indeterminate and obscure concept and condition the right to freedom of expression on it then it is not difficult to see that the person who defines and legalizes ‘insult’ and takes the responsibility for enforcing it holds the sway over entire discourse of communication. That  person is literally God. Continue reading →
